Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, also known as sulphobitter, bitter salt, cathartic salt, Epsom salt, chemical formula MgSO4·7H2O), is a white or colorless acicular or oblique columnar crystal, odorless, cool and slightly bitter. After heat decomposition, the crystal water is gradually removed to anhydrous magnesium sulfate. Mainly used in fertilizer, leather, printing and dyeing, catalyst, paper making, plastics, porcelain, pigments, matches, explosives and fireproof materials manufacturing, can be used for printing and dyeing thin cotton cloth, silk, as a heavy agent of cotton silk and kapok products filler.
Uses:
- Used as raw material for manufacturing magnesium salt.
- Used as chemical reagent and analytical reagent.
- It is used in the printing and dyeing industry. In the printing and dyeing industry, it is used as the color developing salt of blue dye and the alkali absorbing agent in black solution to ensure that the pH value is between 6 and 7 to achieve uniform dyeing.It can also be used as cement fire retardant, papermaking filler and weighting agent for textiles.
- Feed additive, anhydrous magnesium sulfate is mainly used in feed additives as a supplement to trace element magnesium.
- Desiccant.
